Announcing the opening of the new ADI-BDR Group Signal Processing Laboratory at Xiaman University, China.

ADI-BDR Group Signal Processing Laboratory at Xiaman University, China

ADI and BDR group are proud to be a part of a new partnership with Xiaman University in China.  BDR and ADI recognize that the best way to ensure progress in the field is to promote young minds and to further this goal they have founded the new Group Signal Processing Laboratory at the School for Information, Science and Technology in Xiaman University.

Students in the engineering department of Xiaman Univeristy were unable to apply the skills that they were learning due to a lack of funding and poor equipment.  They sought help from the international community.  BDR and ADI answered their call and donated both cutting edge equipment and their time to create the new laboratory.

During a recent visit to inaugurate the laboratory, ADI and BDR representatives received a warm welcome. At the opening ceremony Guo Dong- Hui, vice president of the School of Information, Science and Technology expressed his hope that this laboratory will enhance the research capacity of the school as well as strengthen the practical skills of his students.  The opportunity to work on world class equipment will give students the edge they need to make significant contributions to the application of research in the field while raising the quality of teaching and research levels.

BDR and ADI will continue to provide both equipment and technical support to the laboratory in order to foster innovative ideas and applications of new technologies.  The new lab will also focus on giving students real world skills teaching them about hardware, software and professional development.

This new initiative will cultivate a partnership between the Chinese University, its budding engineers and technological leaders.  The establishment of a joint lab will help to promote partnership and future endeavors.  BDR and ADI are proud to be a part of the project to both trains the minds of future.

Because Its your Machine… You should have what you need

Get what you need, and only what you need so that you can save on your bottom line.  A customized USB 2 camera will give the features that you are looking for without loading on extra expenses for applications that you don’t need.

You know how your machine works, and what it needs.  After over 20 years of working with machines and embedded vision, We want to help you get it right the first time by finding out exactly what you require and then building a custom made camera to your specifications.  Working with you from beginning to end means that you are involved every step of the way.  Everything from memory, the size, the applications, software not to mention DSP capabilities.  You get to design the vision system of your dreams and optimize your productivity and budget all at the same time.

Most other USB 2 cameras are made for general use in a variety of machines.  There are a few problems with this off the shelf mentality.  First of all, you can end up paying for features that you don’t need, you might have to make changes in the machine to accommodate the camera, and the camera might not be in production for very long, leaving you dependent on a product that might not exist in the future.

Imaging Diagnostics will never leave you hanging.  Once we create a camera for you we can replicate it as many times as you need, when you need it. You will always have what you need for your machine and we can do it for less than the competition. Every penny on a whole sale product makes a difference on the final product cost which then can be passed on to the consumer.  When you are able to lower your costs you can raise your profit margin while producing a superior product.  At Imaging Diagnostics we are here to meet your needs.

Size really does matter, and ID measures Up

Camelot Cameras WIFI

Camelot Camera with DSP

Camelot Camera with Ethernet

When designing your machine vision system, size is pivotal, but you know that. Bigger is not better and that includes the price tag as well. What you may not know is that Imaging Diagnostics has designed a system that is not only small and affordable but can be customized to your specific application needs.

How do we do this you may ask? It is simple.

Stackability. Our camera is designed using a system of boards which stack on top of each other and are custom built. We save you money by using innovative technology and streamlining the product so you are only paying for what you need. Our Camelot Camera Series is customized for high performance. While we tend to recommend using USB2 technology with an embedded DSP we can also create a Smart Camera which uses Firewire, Ethernet, GSP or Wifi.

Since each of our cameras is designed for the specific application in your machine, you tell us what you need and we will create the camera which has the best fit for size, data processing and connection speed. Our cameras will fit in everything from large industrial machines to small handheld devices and everything in between. Just give us a call and we can find you the best solution to your machine vision needs

Evolution of USB 2.0

Camelot USB2.0 smart camera

work smarter not harder

Created as one of the first high speed capable connectivity options, USB 2.0 is popular for many machine vision camera applications. But the machine vision world is growing and so are their needs for high performance processing. Most developers and cameras manufactures turn to higher speed options despite their expense to gain better performance from vision systems.  But Imaging Diagnostics wants to change the price performance trade off and make high performance machine vision more affordable with USB2.0

In the Beginning there was USB

From its inception the USB2 interface for cameras has been an affordable and user friendly option.  Initially designed to limit the number or ports used for PCs, USB expanded the capability of data transfer for the typical PC. After a while USB was not enough and was expanded by the USB 2.0 to enable real time transfer for high definition data, expanding the overall maximum speed of the connection.  USB2 is widely available and easily integrated into existing systems.  Almost all existing operating systems support USB2 technology and there is a variety of software and drivers available which are compatible with the technology.

For many reasons, USB2 is an excellent  technology for the machine vision market but it does have some substantial drawbacks including bandwidth limitations, low frame rates and susceptibility to host platform activity which has limited it’s consideration as a viable technology for high performance machine vision applications.

Taking the Next step: USB2 with DSP

Imaging Diagnostics has created an innovative solution to this dilemma, changing the use of USB2 by adding an embedded DSP (digital signal processor) which provides high processing capabilities at the price of a USB2 camera system.  DSPs are used to increase the on camera memory and the processing capabilities of the USB virtually eliminating the need for higher bandwidth capabilities. USB 2.0 smart cameras provide high levels of processing and data transfer for high performance applications at an affordable prices.
